My name is Shoushana Flowers and I am a former Caring Kids member. In June 2006 I plan to graduate from The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio where I currently major in Criminology and Anthropology and upon graduation I plan to work in law enforcement. At Ohio State I’m an active member of six different organizations and four of the six are volunteer based. In these four organizations I volunteer my time as a Girl Scout leader, a dog walker, and I delivery meals for Meals on Wheels.

Caring Kids is a youth ministry that focuses on service, volunteering, and ministering to the community. Even though I am a former member I still serve and volunteer of my time. While a Caring Kid this was the focus, and this continues to be my focus.

Some of the reasons I continue to serve, volunteer, and minister to others is because service gives me a humble heart, and it makes me more grateful for what I have. These are all great qualities I learned while being in Caring Kids.

I appreciate all the opportunities I was given as a Caring Kid such as feeding the homeless, meeting with city officials, and visiting nursing homes.

Thank you Caring Kids Youth Ministry!

Greetings everyone,

I am Kiarah Ujamaa a current Caring Kids member. I enjoy visiting the sick and shut-in and senior citizen homes. Caring Kids perform concerts throughout the year and feed many homeless people, senior citizens and children at Thanksgiving time each year. In addition, Caring Kids also adopt needy families with children during the Christmas season. I enjoy shopping for the children; picking out toys they will enjoy and items they need. I especially enjoyed shopping for the victims of the Katrina Hurricane and sending the items purchased to those who needed them most. I love the time I spend with my Caring Kids family and the out-of-town trips we take together, they are so memorable. Members of Caring Kids are positive and love to share their talent with others. Caring Kids is the place to be!

Hi I’m Paige Grandberry and I’m going to tell you what Caring Kids taught me through the years and how it started from the beginning. I met Kiarah Ujamaa at school we have known each other for years. I participated in Miss Charity Rose Beauty Pageant 2003 after that event I was asked to join Caring Kids and I loved the idea. Caring Kids is mostly about working together and helping others in need at Thanksgiving, Christmas and throughout the year. We feed the homeless and give gifts to people in need. I am still in Caring Kids to this day and I plan on being in Caring Kids until I’m 21 years old. Kiarah is a good friend; we go everywhere together. I love being a Caring Kids member and being on the back cover of the 2005 DVD and VHS of the Miss Charity Rose Beauty Pageant. The pageant has many talented young ladies that participate for the cause of feeding the homeless and adopting families with children during the holiday season. I would like to thank the woman who started it all Mrs. Watkins, she taught me to be thoughtful and care about others. Caring Kids forever!

My name is Joi-Delea Moore and I participated in Caring Kids for a total of 15 years. Since the beginning of joining this ministry at age nine my life has changed in a major way. Seeing the way the people we helped looked at us with such appreciation and hope makes me proud to be a vessel in this ministry that God has caused Mrs. Watkins to create. Caring Kids Youth Ministry is truly a selfless, giving, wonderful organization that expects nothing in return for the services they provide. Now married with two beautiful children looking back on all the blessed experiences that I had since joining the ministry I am truly grateful to have been apart of something so spiritual and beneficial. Caring Kids is indeed a true blessing to all who come in contact.

Hi I’m Salisa Teat the first member of Caring Kids Youth Ministry. From the first day of Caring Kid inception October 15, 1983 I was there along with a host of my childhood friends who shared a caring spirit as I did then and still do to this day. We visited many nursing, convalescent, senior citizen homes, hospitals and hospices, bringing joy into the lives of aging and sick residents. Those were extremely memorable days for use back then and still memorable days for today’s Caring Kids members. Caring Kids teach young people the value of sharing and caring for others and the importance of doing positive deeds in life. God bless Caring Kids and may the ministry live on forever.
